TH Associates Client Golf Day 2009
From arguably the strongest field of players ever seen, with handicaps starting from 6, it was terrific to see several personal best rounds on a course that is worthy of it’s unforgiving title.
Described by Clive Todd in the morning as a “Serious Jolly” the day got underway with the serious part....a charity auction. The prizes for the team to bid the most amount of money had the pleasure of being accompanied around the course by one of 2 female caddies and the course professional. The generosity of our clients helped raise a whopping £2,000. A special mention goes to Lee Compton who was the highest bidder for a voucher for 4 to play at The Grove. The “Jolly” element started soon after, and carried throughout the day.
A fiercely contested competition saw Simon Jukes and Paul Shackleton tie with 39 points for the individual stableford prize. The back nine proved decisive for Simon Jukes, who deservedly won the TH Associates Trophy with a return of 20 points, against Pauls 19. Recognition must go to Paul who was unlucky not to win, but for a missed putt (the picture of which is a must-see) From 20 players, 12 finished with 30 points or more, demonstrating the quality of play on the day.
The Team prize went to Team Heneghan (much to my pain) so congratulations to Nick Wright, Simon Jukes, Duncan Yarroll and of course, Darren Heneghan (through gritted teeth!)
The Longest Drive prize was well won by a deserving John Tait, who must have been using self-propelled balls for the distance his drive travelled! My drive...a daisy cutter of the worst type, was never going to be in contention! The Nearest the pin competition was won by David Sprigg who was unlucky not to put his tee shot straight in the hole.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and has helped cement some even stronger client relationships. On behalf of TH Associates I’d like to thank all of our guests who attended, and were so generous with their charity donations. The beautiful caddies on the day, Sarah Stacey and Skye Butler, were excellent, adding much needed glamour. Anna Darnell, the Grove course professional was a fantastically useful asset to her team, and a joy to play the round with – none benefitted more than our Account Director, Paul Gurney, who had his best ever round of golf as a result
A big thanks to The Grove staff; Brad, Julia, Becky and all who deserve massive praise for their attentiveness and effort, making the day the success it was.
